'MINI MODS' An introduction to Modern dance teaching the basics of Modern Theatre, Disco and Street Jazz with a huge fun element, and packed with up-to-date 'funky' tunes, guaranteed to get the children bopping around the studio. Class takes place Mondays 5.15 - 6.00. Boys and Girls can be between 5 - 9 years of age (approximately). No footwear required, track pants/leggings/shorts/tee shirts all suitable. Lesson fee £3.50 and can be paid weekly.
'BOYS JAZZ/TAP' A combined introductory Tap and Modern Jazz class for boys only, and aimed at boys aged between 6 - 10 years. This class was designed for the lads that were a little bit shy to let themselves be themselves in a studio full of girls! The class teaches a combination of Primary Modern Syllabus work and the Pre-Primary and Primary Tap exam work. There is a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm required for this class. This class fee is £3.50, and this can be paid weekly for the initial few lessons. Tap shoes can be borrowed from the school stock - also for the initial few lessons. Mons 4.30 - 5.15.
'ADULT TAP' Both Adult Tap classes have been running for quite a few years now, and are not designed for the beginner. They are especially good for anyone that has tapped at some time in their life, (maybe as a child) and is really looking for a fun way to exercise the body as well as the mind. Both classes consist of warm ups, time step exercises and a short routine (this changes weekly). Mons 7.45 -and Weds 8.15.
'BRONZE MEDAL JAZZ' This is the first of three medal test classes, and is suitable for the complete beginner, although it is more helpful (to gain strength and flexibility) if one is studying either a Ballet or Modern class in addition. It is recommended that the pupil be at least 8 years of age, and is a superb way of enhancing the quality of their Modern dance, once one reaches about grade 2 Modern standard. Students can go onto take medal tests in Silver and Gold. A good strong Jazz style is a necessity to dance in the theatre nowadays, and is asked for at all auditions for top dance colleges worldwide. Jazz is a further development of Modern Dance. The class fee is £3.50, and can be paid weekly for the initial few weeks only. Mons 6.15 - 7.00. Pupils should wear practical dancewear (bootlegs/leggings/leotard - footwear optional) however set uniform colours are not required.
'GROUP SINGING' A group singing class designed to give young people the confidence to read music and sing together. Popular songs from West End shows and Musicals are chosen, and pupils are taught how to warm up and exercise their voice by the well- known and hugely professional 'Michael Burnie'. This class takes place on Tues 5.15 - 6.00. The cost is £4.00.
ALL BALLET, MODERN & TAP CLASSES ARE TAUGHT UNDER THE IMPERIAL SOCIETY OF TEACHERS OF DANCING EXAMINING BOARD, AND ALL LEVELS ARE OFFERED IN EACH DISCIPLINE. THERE ARE CLASSES OFFERED FROM PRE-PRIMARY (AGED 4 YEARS) TO ADVANCED LEVEL, AND ALL ARE TAUGHT BY QUALIFIED MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY. EXAMINATIONS ARE OFFERED, AND THE EXAMINATION RESULTS ARE ALWAYS EXTREMLY HIGH. ALL TEACHERS ATTEND REGULAR TEACHERS COURSES, AND ARE CRB -POLICE CHECKED.
